Anima in Male Psychology vs. Anima-Animus Projection — Inner Figure or Projection Target?

Both describe anima, but frame the work differently:
- Inner anima: Develop relationship with inner figure (dream work, active imagination) - Projection withdrawal: Stop projecting onto actual women; recognize she is not the anima
The question: Are these the same work described from inside vs. outside, or are they different tasks that need to happen in sequence/parallel?
Possible relationship:
You cannot successfully withdraw anima projection from actual women until you have developed conscious relationship with the inner anima. The inner work enables the outer work.
Or: Withdrawing projection from women forces development of inner relationship (because the woman won't perform the anima anymore).
