The Way and the Power — Cross-Domain Propagation Check
Session Overview
DEEP INGEST of Lovret, The Way and the Power. 16 concept pages created in cross-domain/. This file documents cross-domain propagation beyond the obvious domain (Japanese martial strategy), collision candidates, and the five primary Lovret-Tokitsu tensions.
Cross-Domain Propagation Assessment
Eastern Spirituality — SIGNIFICANT PROPAGATION
Multiple concept pages handshake into eastern-spirituality. No eastern-spirituality pages need updating (connections run one direction: Lovret pages reference eastern-spirituality pages; eastern-spirituality pages predate and don't know about Lovret). However, the following eastern-spirituality pages now have a new significant parallel they don't yet reference:
Prāṇāgnihotra — the five-vāyu model maps onto kokyū chikara (inhale-cycle power). The Lovret page references this; the eastern-spirituality page does not reference Lovret. The parallel is now bidirectional — consider updating Prāṇāgnihotra page to add the martial verification.
Guru Tattva and Dīkṣā — state-transmission (dīkṣā) is structurally parallel to aiki and munenmusō as forms of "action without a separate actor." Lovret pages reference this; guru-tattva page does not reference Lovret.
Skambha and the Cosmo-Body — itten (haragei's belly center) maps structurally onto the svādhiṣṭhāna/maṇipūra centers. Multiple independent traditions have identified the same structural node.
Recommendation: Eastern-spirituality pages are not broken — they predate Lovret. But a future eastern-spirituality update session could add "verified by Lovret's martial tradition" notes to these handshake points.
Psychology — LIMITED PROPAGATION
- Narcissism Spectrum — kime page uses narcissistic hedging as kime failure mode. No update needed to narcissism page; direction is conceptual illustration only.
- Envy Dynamics — kokoro/fudōshin as practical antidote to envy dynamics. Same: direction is illustrative.
Behavioral Mechanics — SIGNIFICANT PROPAGATION
- Initiative-Reward Doctrine — sente, han'on, and ichi no hyōshi all map onto this. The behavioral mechanics page describes what to do; Lovret provides the somatic mechanism beneath it. If initiative-reward doctrine is in vault, it may benefit from a "martial substrate" note.
- Machiavellian Dissimulation — aiki (obvious power) + dissimulation (concealed intention) = the complete strategic profile. This pairing is specific enough to warrant a collision page if not already filed.
Check needed: Are behavioral-mechanics pages in vault? If so, do they reference the martial tradition as a mechanistic account of what they describe sociologically?
History — NO PROPAGATION
No direct history-domain connections identified in Lovret's content. The historical figures mentioned (Musashi, Itō Ittōsai, Takeda Sogaku) are referenced in the martial context but don't require history-domain updates.
Creative Practice — INDIRECT PROPAGATION
Multiple pages use creative practice as a cross-domain handshake (shibumi → writing economy; kime → the committed sentence; munenmusō → creative flow). No creative-practice pages need updating — the direction is illustrative from Lovret to creative examples. However, if creative-practice pages exist in vault that discuss flow states, commitment, or aesthetic economy, they now have a martial mechanistic parallel available.
The Five Primary Lovret-Tokitsu Collisions
These are the highest-value tensions from the ingest. Each is partially filed; this documents their current status.
1. Ki — Demystification vs. Phenomenological Reality
- Lovret: ki = complexity × organization; trainable, measurable, depletable
- Tokitsu: ki phenomena are phenomenologically real without reducing them to a formula; the experience is the data
- Status: Noted in Ki (Lovret) Tensions section. No collision stub filed — the tension is real but both accounts may be compatible (Lovret = mechanism; Tokitsu = phenomenology).
- Recommendation: Low priority for collision stub — they're operating at different epistemic registers.
2. Munenmusō — Binary Destination vs. Staged Arc
- Lovret: terminal state, functionally binary; "become the sword"
- Tokitsu: developmental arc with phenomenological stages and internal texture
- Status: Collision stub filed at Munenmusō: Lovret vs. Tokitsu. ACTIVE.
- Recommendation: Requires a second practitioner source to assess which model is more accurate.
3. Hyōshi — Tactical vs. Cosmological
- Lovret: three tactical tools (han'on, katsuri, hitotsu no tachi); operational register
- Tokitsu: hyōshi as relational field; ma as living space; cosmological register
- Status: Noted in Lovret's Hyōshi page as "complementary registers." NOT a genuine collision — they're not contradicting each other; they're at different levels of description.
- Recommendation: These are compatible. No collision stub needed.
4. Aiki vs. Kizeme — Mechanism vs. Phenomenology
- Lovret: aiki as kiai applied outward; mechanism of ki-disruption
- Tokitsu: kizeme as the specific combat application; phenomenological account of the "sensation of being dominated"
- Status: Cross-referenced in both pages. Complementary, not in tension.
- Recommendation: These are the same phenomenon; together they produce a more complete account. Strong cross-domain handshake already filed. No collision needed.
5. Ki Demystification vs. Death-Acceptance — System vs. Its Foundation
- Lovret (internal): ki formula implies full systematizability; Hagakure/aiuchi implies an unsystemizable existential foundation
- Status: Collision stub filed at Ki Demystification vs. Death-Acceptance. ACTIVE.
- Recommendation: This is the most philosophically significant tension in the book. Worth developing further when a second source touches the "unsystemizable foundation of systems" question.
New Collision Candidates (Not Yet Filed)
Shibumi + Strunk's "Omit Needless Words"
- Shibumi as structural efficiency principle vs. Western rhetorical economy (Strunk, Hemingway's iceberg theory)
- These are structurally identical but developed independently in completely different contexts
- Candidate for a creative-practice or cross-domain collision
- Status: Not filed. Low priority — interesting but not urgent.
Aiki + Machiavellian Dissimulation
- The strategic profile of aiki (obvious power) + dissimulation (concealed intention) deserves its own collision page
- Currently referenced in the aiki page handshake but not filed as a standalone collision
- Status: Not filed. MEDIUM priority — this is a specific actionable strategic profile.
