⚑ Track the two bars across the volume and they behave differently.
Caste comes down and stays down. Śvapaca at 11(14) is not a marginal case — it is the furthest possible position, and the text puts it inside. Nothing later re-imposes it.
Sex comes down and goes back up. ⚠ Granted at 11(12) and 11(27). Re-imposed at 11(14) and 11(26). ⚑ Same Skandha, and in one instance the same chapter.
And then 12(12) does a third thing that neither bar accounts for.

⚠ Nobody is excluded there. All four study. All four are rewarded — differently.

⚑ *So there are not two positions. There are three, and the third is invisible if you only ask who is allowed in.***
⚑ A tradition can open a door and keep the room unchanged, and the two moves get filed under the same word.
The reason the śūdra's payout is the tell: the other three receive an acquisition — wisdom, territory, wealth. ⚠ *The śūdra receives the removal of a deficit. He is purified from sins*. Everyone gets a gain and he gets restored to zero.
⚑ Which suggests the mechanism: where an exclusion is dismantled loudly, look for whether the thing behind the door was also redistributed. Access is cheap to grant and highly visible. Proceeds are expensive and nobody audits them.
⚠ [SPECULATIVE] — and stated as a reading, because the text never places these three positions beside each other.
- *The 12(12) schedule would have to be more than a formulaic phalaśruti. ⚑ This is the weakest link and the honest place to start. Reward-formulae by class are a convention, and a convention is not a position.
- The sex-bar oscillation would have to survive a check against Vols 1–2. ⚠ Unchecked.
- A comparison case: any tradition where the eligibility grant and the proceeds grant can be dated separately. ⚑ If the gap is common, this is a general finding; if it is not, it belongs to this text.
- Disconfirmation: if "purified from sins" is the standard śūdra clause across the Purāṇa* corpus, the asymmetry is inherited and the finding shrinks to a report.
