The Collision

Open Pai's book to the Abhijit chapter and you get a full HIGH-density treatment: Krishna names Abhijit among nakshatras in the Gita, classical texts include it, the Abhijit Muhurta operates as a 28-minute window around noon, Vega is the star. Open DiCara's book to the same star and you get a one-paragraph appendix arguing for excision — Vega is so far north of the ecliptic that the Moon never enters its vicinity, so why is it in the lunar-mansion apparatus at all? Two practitioner-lineages reach opposite conclusions on whether the 28th star exists as part of the system. This isn't a difference of emphasis or scope. It's a direct yes-or-no contradiction. Per user direction, both sides are preserved: this collision-stub holds the disagreement, and the existing Pai Abhijit page carries a Tensions section pointing across.

Candidate Idea

The disagreement may be resolvable through one of three paths:

1. Astronomical-resolution: Verify whether Vega's position relative to the Moon's path has varied across precession-periods. If 5,000 years ago (or earlier) Vega did intersect the Moon's path, DiCara's exclusion-argument applies to current-cosmology but Pai's inclusion may be historically-correct for the period the apparatus was finalized.
2. Textual-resolution: Re-examine Krishna's Bhagavad Gita reference to Abhijit. Does Krishna name Abhijit as a 28th nakshatra specifically, or as a significant star outside the 27-star system?
3. Permanent-irresolvable lineage-difference: Treat the disagreement as a legitimate lineage-difference where Gauḍīya-Vaiṣṇava (DiCara) and Frawley-Trivedi-Sutton-Rath (Pai) lineages have genuinely-different doctrinal-positions and the chart-reader must commit to one or the other.

What Would Need to Be True

For DiCara's exclusion-argument to be fully accepted: Krishna's Gita reference would need to be reinterpreted as not-naming-a-28th-nakshatra, OR Vega's non-intersection-of-Moon's-path would need to be demonstrated across all relevant historical configurations.

For Pai's inclusion-argument to be fully accepted: Krishna's Gita reference would need textual-evidence specifically naming Abhijit as a nakshatra in the lunar-mansion sense (not just as a notable star), AND the Abhijit Muhurta operational-significance would need to demonstrate distinct chart-prediction-validity.

For permanent-irresolvable lineage-difference framing: the practitioner-community would need to acknowledge that this is a legitimate lineage-disagreement without forcing convergence.
