The predatory consciousness that doesn't get put back. The framework's Premise 4 (hierarchy as natural) and Premise 5 (gender as ontological polarity) can be run as developmental aspiration or as justification for contempt and domination3. The same claim that some men are more excellent and that's good becomes, in the wrong hands, a license for cruelty toward those ranked below — and the framework's debt to the late-19th-century anti-democratic current (Nietzsche, Evola) makes this slide a real reception risk, not a hypothetical one.

He's done the work, mostly. Eight years in. He trains, he teaches, he's built something. From outside he reads as a success of the framework — radiant, authoritative, the real thing. And there's a basement he never went down into. Early on, in Stage 3, he did the bright protocols enthusiastically and performed the Underworld Descent as a ten-day retreat he treated as a box to check1. He never did the trauma work the descent was actually for. He bypassed, and the framework's upward vocabulary gave him perfect cover — he could call the avoidance transcendence and no one, least of all him, could see the difference.
The basement floods in Stage 5, on schedule, the way the framework warns unexamined material always does1. The unprocessed grief and rage he channeled-instead-of-felt for a decade surface — and now there are students and an institution resting on the unexamined ground. The damage isn't only his; it lands on everyone who trusted the bright surface. Worse, his inflation makes it hard to hear: he's spent years receiving the radiant authority framing, so the suggestion that he bypassed reads to him as an attack on his attainment3. What the case shows: the failure wasn't a lack of effort — he worked hard for eight years. It was that the framework's brightness let him skip the descent while feeling like he was ascending, and the brighter his reputation grew, the harder the shadow was to name. The shadow-map exists precisely for this man, and the tragedy is that this man is the least able to read it.
You do this honestly or you don't do it. The whole point is to catch what the bright vocabulary hides, and the bright vocabulary is very good at hiding.
You start with the bypass question, and you make it concrete: name the last time you actually felt something painful all the way through, versus channeled it into a workout or a project. If you can't find a recent instance of the first, suspect that channeling has become your word for avoiding. The heat-as-fuel teaching is supposed to redirect heat that's ready to move, not seal off heat that needs to be felt.
Then the descent question. Did you do the Underworld Descent, or did you perform it? The test isn't whether you did a retreat or a fast — it's whether there's unprocessed material you've been routing around for years. The descent was for the material, not the ritual.
Then the inflation question, which requires a witness because you can't run it on yourself — this is where the brotherhood earns its keep. Ask men who'll tell you the truth: am I acting like I live somewhere I've only visited? Am I claiming an authority I've earned, or one I glimpsed once and never stopped citing?
And then the one that's hardest to face: the predatory-leak question. Has the intensity you unlocked started showing up where it doesn't belong — in how you treat people who can't fight back, in a contempt you've started calling discernment? The framework gives you permission to unlock aggression. It does not give you permission to leave it unlocked, and the absence of an elder to call you back means you have to run the check the elder used to run.

Evidence. The failure modes track well-documented patterns: spiritual bypass is a recognized phenomenon in transpersonal psychology; the predatory-consciousness-without-integration risk is corroborated by the documented harms in some contemporary masculinity programs; inflation is a standard hazard in the literature on peak experience and guru dynamics. The framework's contribution is mapping these specifically onto its own structure and — unusually — generating its own counter-evidence catalogue.
Tensions (mandatory; preserved, not resolved).
The anti-medical / ordeal-over-therapy stance. The framework's suffering-as-fuel register sits in genuine tension with clinical models that treat some of the same conditions as injuries requiring treatment, not ordeals requiring endurance. The framework risks telling a man to forge what a clinician would heal. The page holds both readings; it does not endorse the framework's optimism over the clinical caution.

Bell is most willing to name the interior failures — bypass, inflation, the daimon-possessed brightness that's all ascent and no soul2. Donovan is comparatively silent on the framework's own shadow; his energy goes to diagnosing the failures of the un-solar world (the last man, ressentiment) rather than the failures of the solar project itself, and his reception history is part of the shadow he doesn't address5. The research-operations voice is the one that did the unflinching internal audit — generating the counter-evidence catalogue that neither Bell nor Donovan produced4.
The convergence is thin and worth noting precisely because it's thin: the three barely agree on what the framework's shadow even is. Bell locates it in the individual psyche, Donovan largely doesn't locate it at all, and the research-operations voice locates it in the framework's epistemics and politics. What the split reveals is that the shadow-map is necessarily a synthesis the individual authors don't supply — no single source gives you the framework's full shadow, which is exactly why a consolidated page is needed, and why the vault's document-don't-endorse discipline matters more here than anywhere else in the corpus.

Psychology: Ego Death State — the inflation failure is ego-death's exact inverse: where ego-death is the self dissolving and being transcended not annihilated, inflation is the self aggrandized by a transcendent glimpse it failed to integrate. The handshake makes visible that the same peak experience can deflate the ego (genuine apotheosis) or inflate it (the guru-gone-wrong), and that the difference is integration over time, not the intensity of the moment. The insight neither produces alone: the brightest experiences are the most dangerous to the ego precisely because they feel like transcendence while doing the opposite, which is why the framework's apex states need the shadow-map bolted directly to them.
The sharpest implication. The framework that most attracts the self-reliant man requires, at its safety-critical core, that he stop relying only on himself. That's the live edge, and it's the same edge the brotherhood page arrives at from the other direction.
