Text 19 sorts Kṛṣṇa's servants into four offices — adhikṛta, appointed; āśrita, sheltered; pāriṣada, attendant; anuga, personal follower — and then tells you what each may feel.
In the
adhikṛta- andāśrita-bhaktas, thesthāyibhāvamanifests up to the stage ofprema. In thepāriṣada-bhaktas, it may attain the stage ofsneha. In Parīkṣit, Dāruka and Uddhava it manifests up to the stage ofrāga.
Read that again with the offices in mind.
Adhikṛta is Brahmā. Śiva. Indra. The demigods, appointed by Kṛṣṇa to run the universe.
They stop at prema.
A personal attendant goes further. Three named individuals go further still.
[RESONANCE] Because rank systems normally limit privilege — what you may have, where you may sit, who you may address. This one limits how much love is available to you, and it runs the ranking backwards from the worldly one.
The highest-status beings in the cosmology have the lowest ceiling. Not because they are unworthy. Because the office they hold requires them to know exactly who they are serving, and knowing gets in the way.
Nobody says that last part. It falls out of the same Text's other paragraph — the one where the vrajānugas never consider Śrī Kṛṣṇa to be Parameśvara, are devoid of aiśvarya-jñāna, watch a mountain lifted and conclude he is unusually able, and sit at the top of the range.
The vault holds this as adhikrita-ashrita-parishada-anuga-the-four-servants, with the finding that emotional attainment is capped by office and worldly rank runs in the opposite direction.
What makes it a spark rather than just a good page is that it is a cap, not a tendency. The text does not say the demigods usually do not exceed prema. It says the sthāyibhāva manifests up to prema in them. It is a specification.
And the mechanism is not moral. Nobody is being punished. The structure is: the role requires accurate knowledge of the principal, accurate knowledge forecloses the intimacy, and the intimacy is the thing being graded. Competence at the job is what caps you.
Which means the system contains, without ever stating it, a claim about what proximity to power costs. The people who administer the relationship cannot have the deepest version of it.
Any role that requires accurate knowledge of a principal will cap the role-holder's intimacy with them — and the cap will look like a personal failing rather than a structural one.
That has a modern shape and it is worth chasing, because it predicts something specific and slightly counterintuitive: the chief of staff cannot be the friend. The people whose job is to see a powerful person accurately — aides, agents, physicians, security, the ones who know the schedule and the health and the finances — are structurally excluded from the relationship the fans, the children and the strangers get.
Not because they are cynical. Because the job is to see clearly, and the relationship runs on not doing that.
Promotion criterion: two independent cases outside devotion where the person closest to a principal reports less intimacy than someone further out, and the cause is job-required accuracy rather than personality. The vault's court and proximity material is the first place to look, and it currently says the opposite — proximity buys information and advantage — so the test is sharp.
Run it against The Proximity Principle, which claims the information gradient rises with closeness. This case inverts it deliberately. Either they describe different variables — access against intimacy — or one of them is wrong, and finding out which is a one-session job.
