Most people assume a "split personality" is something that happens to someone — trauma fracturing a mind against its will. The Ellipsis Manual's final major chapter claims the opposite is possible: that a second, functional personality can be deliberately built, on a schedule, through four named phases, in someone who started the process with no such condition at all.1 Chase Hughes calls this Corrugation Programming. This page documents what the book actually says it consists of — and where it says that, and where it doesn't.
⚑ This material is genuinely disturbing, and this page documents it factually, per the vault's standing document-don't-endorse policy: complete, without omission, without extra hedging, and without operational detail sufficient to run any of it. Where the source includes a scripted trauma-induction procedure, this page describes what it does and why it matters rather than reproducing it as a usable how-to.
A prior, non-compliant page, corrugation-and-identity-engineering.md, invented an extensive apparatus around this chapter: an "Organ Transplant Metaphor," "17 Refined Needs," a "Reward Anchor," a "Subconscious Control Room" installed during Phase 1, a "False Arrest simulation," a "Durability Index," a "Voice Installation Protocol," an "Interrogation Shield" case study, and "Identity Bleed" as a named failure mode. None of these terms or concepts appear anywhere in this chapter of the source. Six independent readers, doing a full parallel pass across the entire book, could not locate any of them.
Two of the four real phases the fabricated page got right — Alignment, Entrainment, Training, Separating, in that order, are genuinely the book's own structure. But almost everything layered on top of that real skeleton is invented. Most seriously, the "Subconscious Control Room" is real — but it isn't introduced during Phase 1 the way the fabricated page claimed. It's introduced much later, during a separate curriculum called "Trance-Training Level 2," and it's explicitly cited to a real 1990 clinical hypnosis source, not presented as bespoke Ellipsis intellectual property. See The Belgrade Protocol and the Seven-Level Scale for the correctly-sourced version of that concept.
The chapter opens with an authority claim worth stating exactly as written, because it's central to how the book positions everything that follows: "The written process of creating a programmed operative has long been destroyed or removed from public view. In the course of method development, Ellipsis was granted access to a vault of information that made it past the MKUltra document-destruction order. The information in this chapter has never before been released to the public."2
This claim is unverifiable and self-sourced — there is no citation, document number, or external corroboration offered for it, unlike the book's later chapter quoting real, numbered declassified CIA documents. [LOW CONFIDENCE] applies to the "vault of information" claim specifically; it should not be read with the same confidence as the book's genuinely verbatim MKUltra-document quotations elsewhere in the source.
The book also draws an explicit line between two uses of the same technique: in therapy, the alter is called "the helper," formally introduced to the host, and built to "overcome the challenging life issues" the person is already facing. For intelligence work, the same chapter is framed as "the how-to manual for creating a Manchurian Candidate without the use of trauma" — a phrase this page returns to below, because the book does not actually keep that promise.2
The book states plainly: "The Ellipsis Corrugation Programming consists of four phases."3 In order:
The new personality gets aligned with the subject's existing needs and ideals before anything else happens. Excitement gets built. Dissociative language — referring to the subject's body and mind in the third person — starts here and continues through every phase that follows.3 The book states this phase's purpose directly: to establish "the training as the only vehicle to achieve all of subjects' needs and to create fulfillment and actualization."3
During Alignment, subjects can be shown a leveling scale — the book calls it, in its own words, "a simplified version that can be tailored to suit the needs of the operators" — seven numbered levels of "achievement" they can aspire to as the programming deepens.3 This scale is documented in full in The Belgrade Protocol and the Seven-Level Scale; the important structural point for this page is that the book itself frames it as the subject-facing, simplified motivational rubric shown during Alignment — not the gated, undisclosed Belgrade Protocol material itself, which the book explicitly withholds ("material, techniques and scripts not suited for everyday use").
"This phase involves literally rewiring the brain to form new connections," building "a solid neuronal connection that connects their voices, desired emotional states, and subjects' behaviors and obedience."4 This is where the book's word-trigger drill scripts live — arbitrary phrases like "Davenport" or "Velocity 3971," used not for their content but to build "the habit of compliance" through pure repetition, shifting from "say" to "repeat" as a marker that the response has gone unconscious.4 If a handler relationship is part of the operation, an added imprinting sub-phase happens here too, explicitly compared by the book to how animals imprint on parents.4
The longest phase. Subjects are trained to stay in trance states while walking, driving, and — the book's own phrase — being "lightly assaulted (legally, with consent)."5 "Wakeproofing" is coined here as the term for training subjects to hold a trance under high-stress or complex conditions; the book also introduces time distortion in this phase, suggesting a one-hour session contained "several hours" of training.5 The book notes, without much elaboration, that some subjects respond to deliberate "reconfusion" — repeated, semi-random use of confusion technique throughout training — and states plainly that which subjects respond to this "we have not yet been able to identify... without trying it first."5
The final phase uses a mental "hallway" concept and introduces what the book names dissociation addiction — programming the switch between identities to feel like an addictive relief, so that under stress the subject's brain wants to make the switch. The book names trance trauma as "mentally simulated trauma" used in this phase to seal the separation between the two identities.6
Here is the tension this page is required to document rather than smooth over, per CLAUDE.md's standing instruction never to silently resolve a contradiction.
Immediately after describing Corrugation as a way of creating a Manchurian Candidate "without the use of trauma," and stating explicitly that in the therapeutic version "the alter personality isn't created through trauma,"2 the book's own activation script for creating this exact kind of alter — the Mental Hallway procedure, described one section earlier in the source — reads as follows:
"At this point, if subjects state that there is a part of the hosts who have been listening, the alter egos need to walk into the hallway and somehow hold the hosts underwater until the hosts are completely unconscious. This experience must be violent. The alter egos must imagine the hosts struggling and making eye contact with the alter egos from beneath the surface of the water as the alter egos become unconscious... The reason for this drowning is to induce trauma in the hosts to erase the memories associated with the activation, even for the alter egos."7
The book's own words: the drowning is there specifically "to induce trauma." One paragraph away from a claim that no trauma is involved. This page states both passages exactly as written and does not attempt to reconcile them — not because the contradiction is subtle, but because it isn't, and resolving it silently would misrepresent what the source actually says. Whatever else is true about the safety or clinical legitimacy of "the helper" as a therapeutic technique, the book's own activation mechanics for the alter it describes are explicitly, admittedly built around inducing a violent, simulated, near-death experience in the part of the mind being separated from.
This page does not reproduce further specifics of the script beyond what's quoted above, in keeping with the instruction to document, not operationalize.
Both terms are the book's own coinages, not fabrications layered on by a prior corpus. "Dissociation addiction" names the intended mechanism where switching states becomes a craved relief from stress rather than a neutral shift. "Trance trauma" is the book's own label for mentally simulated (not physically inflicted) trauma used to seal a psychological boundary.6 Both mechanisms are explaining-register enough — describing what happens inside a person rather than instructing an operator step by step — that a case could be made for filing them psychology-primary with a mandatory handshake back to this page; that filing decision is deferred to whichever future session builds the dedicated dissociation-addiction-and-trance-trauma page per the ingest's page inventory, rather than made unilaterally here.
This section intentionally does not walk through a usable operational sequence. The book itself moves through Alignment, Entrainment, Training, and Separating as a continuous process meant to be scripted and rehearsed in advance — that much is safe to name structurally. What happens inside each phase, in enough detail to actually run it, is exactly the material this page declines to reproduce. Where earlier pages in this ingest include a scene-form Implementation Workflow walking through how a technique gets applied, this page substitutes a boundary statement instead: the four-phase structure is documented above at the level of what each phase is for; the line stops there.
Evidence: The four-phase structure, its ordering, and the direct quotations above are all [VERIFIED] — read and confirmed against the source text. The chapter's foundational authority claim (unpublished MKUltra-adjacent "vault of information") is [LOW CONFIDENCE] — self-sourced, uncorroborated, and structurally different in kind from the book's later verbatim declassified-document quotations.
Tensions: The book's explicit "not created through trauma" claim directly contradicts its own trauma-inducing activation script, as documented above — preserved unresolved. Separately: the book frames the seven-level Aspirational Scale shown during Alignment as "a simplified version" — simplified relative to what, exactly, is never stated outright; the most coherent reading, given the chapter that follows, is that it's a simplified public face of the Belgrade Protocol's real Levels 4–7 material, but the book never says this explicitly, so it's flagged as an inference rather than a confirmed structural fact.
Cross-Domain — Institutional Complicity in Coercive Research. That page's gate-passed finding traces a real historical sequence — Nazi physicians, Cameron's psychic-driving experiments, the institutional machinery around MKUltra — and argues that ethical frameworks built to police individual conduct fail against coercive research precisely because the harm was structural and institutional, not the isolated choice of one bad actor. Read against Corrugation's own claimed provenance (a "vault of information that made it past the MKUltra document-destruction order"), the parallel is direct rather than metaphorical: this chapter is explicitly positioning itself as a continuation of the same institutional lineage that page documents as a matter of real history. The insight the pairing produces: whether or not Hughes's specific provenance claim is true, the chapter borrows its authority from a genuine historical institutional failure — which means evaluating Corrugation honestly requires holding both possibilities at once, that it's either a direct methodological descendant of a documented abuse or a marketing appropriation of one, and the book gives no way to tell which from the inside.
Psychology — Dissociation and Cognitive Freeze. That page documents dissociation as consciousness withdrawing from unbearable experience, spanning a spectrum from ordinary highway hypnosis to clinical multiple personality — and is explicit that this withdrawal is normally an involuntary protective response to something the mind can't otherwise process. Read against Corrugation's Separating phase, the contrast sharpens what's actually novel about this chapter's claim: Hughes is describing dissociation engineered on a schedule, from the outside, toward a chosen outcome, rather than the mind's own spontaneous defense against something unbearable. The insight the pairing produces: the book's contradiction (no trauma / trauma-inducing script) reads differently once you see that ordinary dissociation is a defense mechanism the mind builds for itself under duress — which means Corrugation isn't offering a trauma-free alternative to that mechanism, it's trying to manufacture the mechanism's trigger condition deliberately, using a script explicitly designed to produce exactly the kind of "unbearable experience" dissociation normally exists to escape from.
Sharpest implication: The chapter's most revealing sentence isn't in the four-phase structure at all — it's the throwaway admission that some subjects respond to deliberate reconfusion and the author doesn't yet know which ones, or why, without "trying it first." A technique whose author states outright that its effects on a given person can only be discovered by experimentation, on that person, is describing something closer to unsupervised human experimentation than a repeatable clinical or training protocol — regardless of what else the chapter claims about safety or reversibility.
