First Level Alterations: Formos

What Do You Do When Nothing Is Moving?

A project that will not start. A shop with no customers. A group losing people. A thing you have been meaning to finish for eight months. None of it is broken exactly — it is just stopped, and pushing harder has not helped.

Five incantations open the spellbook and three of them are about exactly that.1 Not making something happen, and not making something new. Getting something that already exists to move again.

Each entry has the same four parts: the name, what it does, a Latin verse from a psalm, and one named celestial with the office that being holds. That is the working unit of this whole practice, and this is the first set a reader meets.

Celerefactum — Faster

The speed charm, and the range of what it speeds up is wider than a reader would guess. It makes a situation proceed at a faster pace and things evolve around the Wizard more rapidly than normal. Tasks finish faster. Jobs get done quicker. And then a clause worth noticing: it can make people work speedier without them knowing.

The workgroup effect is specified in detail. It provides people with dexterity, cohesion and with machinery-like harmony in a given workgroup, so that they all work synchronized with quickness and ease. Then the ordinary detail that dates the whole book: it is quite useful for getting mail quicker.

And an effect on the caster rather than the work: the caster will experience a special bonding with the people with whom he or she is working, and consequently better results in all manner of tasks. Psalm 19:3. Mittat tibi auxilium de sancto et de Sion tueatur te. Celestial: Sophazel, Dominion of the Third Heaven, described as the voice for the forces which tell the natural world how to move, operate and behave.

Chronocoronis — The Right People at the Right Time

The second charm is aimed at minds rather than at pace, and it works two different ways depending on who is in the room. It works primarily stimulating the intellectual level, and it is ideal for attracting the right people at the right time when ingenuity, inventiveness and resourcefulness are needed to avoid a problem or to open a new option. If the people are not there yet, it finds them: the charm helps a wizard find like-minded people to work with, and to run more complex and intricate mental activities faster than normal. If they are already present, it does something else: the incantation will synchronize them at a spiritual level and provide them with mental acuity and intellectual prowess to finish a task quickly and to the best of their abilities.

Attract, or synchronise. Two modes, one formula, and the condition that switches between them is simply whether the right people have arrived. Psalm 54:18–24. Celestial: Salachar, Heavenly Host of the Third Heaven, in charge of bringing together the many different forces of the universe.

Lutum Obrego — The Momentum Incantation

The third has a nickname and it is the one aimed at a person who is stuck. It provides movement to things that had gotten stuck, trapped in a loop, or caught on the endless rings of despair. Then the situations, and they are unusually concrete for this material: people physically trapped by wrongful responsibilities, ill-fated relationships, and even spiritual activities which keep the people or projects down or not able to launch. And the moment to use it: when things feel like not moving at all, when things are not going anywhere, or when people around keep stalling you and not letting you get to your rightful destiny.

What it removes is named as an energy: the charm eradicates those wrongful and evil energies that flatten your efforts and squash your energies away. And the largest claim in the set — it changes one's fate by releasing the caster, or another individual, from situations which keep a person stuck to the mud. Psalm 72:21. Celestial: Qalebel, Authority of the First Heaven, the divine consciousness which keeps us from peril and dangerous traps.

Magicartifex Ubertas — The Power Tap

The fourth is the most-referenced incantation in the whole volume, and it is the only one in this set that is not about a situation at all. It allows the Wizard to tap directly into the Philosophical Sphere's awesome power, cosmological energies and its cosmic drive. What that produces: enough power to feel better, continue performing elaborate chores, and augment one's particular magical punch — so that the wizard can cast more potent versions of incantations and work at demanding activities for longer periods of time without tiring or suffering from exhaustion. That is the whole reason it turns up everywhere. It is not a spell for a problem; it is the charm that makes other charms stronger. The second use is the one that gets it into the metals and gemstone chapters. It infuses ordinary objects with magical forces, be them planetary, astrological and celestial — and the method is stated: it can permeate an object with a particular energy if when cast the Wizard has in mind the particular kind of energy.

Held in mind. The intention is what selects which energy goes in. ⚠ And the limit: this alteration is limited to only a number of days. A number, unspecified.

Psalm 15:3. Celestial: Qatzavar, an Angel of Illumination of the First Heaven, whose task is to make contact with those wanting to understand the greater powers of Light.

Analytical Case Study — Tabescere Glacium and the Perception Clause

The fifth charm looks like a duplicate of the third and is not, and the difference is where the mechanism sits. It transmits action, movement and momentum to an activity which has gone into a complete stop. Named as similar to Lutum Obrego, but with a different target: this one works particularly with places, environments and groups.

The examples are ordinary and specific. It will restore momentum to a store so that clients would come in more frequently. It will give fresh energy and dynamism to a group which is losing members. It will bring better opportunities of development to stagnant places which had been neglected by people.

Then the sentence that makes this the most interesting entry in the set: the incantation works by bettering the perception of the activity or place and making it more favorable in the recipients' mind. That is a stated mechanism, and it is psychological rather than energetic. Nothing is added to the shop. What changes is how the shop looks to the people who might walk into it — and the shop fills because they do.

⚠ Nowhere else in the ranges read in this build does an incantation explain itself this way. Lutum Obrego eradicates energies. This one adjusts an impression.

And the limit is the tightest in the set: the incantation will not place an activity or provide momentum to a place which had never had it in the first place. You can restart a shop that used to have customers. You cannot start one that never did.

Psalm 12:6. Celestial: Sycharel, Authority of the Third Heaven, in charge of commanding movement, change and motion to things unmoving.

Five Celestials, Two Heavens

Look at the beings rather than the effects and a pattern appears that the entries do not point out. Three of the five are of the Third Heaven — Sophazel, Salachar and Sycharel — and all three govern movement or combination: telling the natural world how to move, bringing forces together, commanding motion to things unmoving. Two are of the First Heaven — Qalebel and Qatzavar — and neither governs motion. One keeps people from peril and traps; the other makes contact with those who want to understand the powers of Light. So the school's own subject, movement, lives in the Third Heaven, and the two charms that are not really about movement — the one that frees a person from a trap and the one that taps the sphere — reach to the First instead.

Every name ends in a divine marker, which is this system's own naming rule: a verb or a role, joined to a syllable that marks it as celestial.

Implementation Workflow — Working the First Alterations

Sort by what is stuck before choosing. A person or a project caught in a situation: Lutum Obrego. A place, a business or a group that has gone flat: Tabescere Glacium. Something moving too slowly rather than stopped: Celerefactum.

Check the one hard limit first. Tabescere Glacium restores momentum and does not create it. If the place never had customers, this is the wrong charm.

Use Chronocoronis when the problem is who rather than what — either to draw the right people in, or to synchronise the ones already there. Use Magicartifex Ubertas as a multiplier rather than as a fix. Cast it to work longer without tiring, or to make another incantation land harder. And when charging an object with it, hold the specific energy you want in mind while you speak — that is what selects it.

Expect the object charge to lapse. The entry says a number of days without naming one, so treat it as temporary and recast. And take the psalm and the celestial as part of the working. Every entry names both, and the celestial's office tells you what kind of help you are asking for.

Evidence, Tensions, Open Questions

The five incantations, their effects, psalms and celestials are all in the First Level Alterations section of the spellbook. This is the Eldest Tradition warrant on the source stub. 🚩 SINGLE SOURCE.

The psalm citations follow the Vulgate numbering, which runs one behind the Hebrew for most of the Psalter. The Latin quoted for Celerefactum is genuine Vulgate text. ⚠ Magicartifex Ubertas is said to last only a number of days and the number is not given. It is the volume's most-cited incantation and its duration is unspecified.

⚠ Celerefactum's clause about making people work faster without them knowing sits against this curriculum's general position elsewhere that some workings require the recipient to have asked. No consent condition is attached here. ⚠ Tabescere Glacium's stated mechanism — improving perception in the recipients' mind — is the only mechanical explanation offered for any incantation in the ranges read in this build.

Unresolved: nothing says what happens if Lutum Obrego and Tabescere Glacium are both cast on the same situation, which the entries' overlapping descriptions make an obvious question.

Author Tensions & Convergences

Follow Lutum Obrego and the mechanism is energetic. Wrongful and evil energies flatten your efforts and squash your energies away, the charm eradicates them, and a person's fate changes as a result. Follow Tabescere Glacium and the mechanism is a matter of impressions. The place is not altered; how it looks to the people who might come is. They come, and the place recovers.

Both charms are in the same set, both restore momentum, and one page apart they explain themselves in incompatible ways. Nothing in the section addresses it.

Cross-Domain Handshakes

Zero handshakes on this page. The material is five printed formulas with their effects, texts and celestials, and the connections worth having — how a printed formula is completed in the mouth, and what the assistance economy makes of a named celestial — sit inside this build already on the pages that treat each directly.

The Live Edge

Sharpest implication. One of these five explains how it works, and the explanation is not magical. Tabescere Glacium works by bettering the perception of the activity or place and making it more favorable in the recipients' mind — the shop fills because people think better of it. Every other incantation in the volume states an effect and stops.

Generative questions.

  • Celerefactum speeds people up without them knowing. Where does that sit against this system's own consent rules?
  • Magicartifex Ubertas is cited more than anything else here and lasts an unnamed number of days. Was the number ever given?
  • Three of five celestials are of the Third Heaven and all three govern motion. Is the school-to-heaven mapping consistent across the other nine schools?
