Four Days of Fasting for the Supreme Beings

The One Thing Here That Costs You Something

Almost nothing in this practice is hard to do. The drills are five and ten minutes. The stones go in a pocket. The gestures take a second. Even the eleven-day crystal is eleven visits of a few minutes each.

This is the exception. Fasting for four days, three concentrated sessions every one of them, and at the end do not falter if an obvious sign of connection is not shown or experienced.1 Four days without ordinary food, for something that may give you nothing you can point to. It is the only procedure in this material that asks a practitioner to go without.

Who You Are Fasting For

The beings at the other end are defined first, and they sit at the top of everything. Supreme beings are those entities which exist beyond the realm of mankind. They are powerful manifestations of Nature or the Cosmos, found only on remote realms, farther than the gods themselves. Collectively they are the Universal Consciousnesses.

And their purpose is not power. They exist to help us in our path towards illumination, self-righteousness and absolute equilibrium. Then the sentence that explains the whole protocol: these are found at a level so subtle and pure that the person attempting to contact them should follow some special instructions. The fast is not a payment or a proof. It is offered as what it takes to get quiet enough.

Analytical Case Study — What the Fast Actually Is

⚠ The fasting instruction is the one place in this material where the printed wording is genuinely ambiguous, and it matters because the two readings are opposite. It reads: fasting for four days, only eating non solid foods during the period of 6PM until 6AM; water and juices are allowed during the day time.

Reading one takes non solid literally: nothing solid at any point, liquids only, with the liquids taken between 6PM and 6AM and water and juice permitted during the day. That is a four-day liquid fast. Reading two takes the two clauses as a pair: the second half restricts the daytime to water and juices, which implies the first half is the window in which you may actually eat. On that reading you eat only between 6PM and 6AM and drink only during the day — a four-day nocturnal eating schedule.

The phrase non solid points at the first. The structure of the sentence, and the fact that the second clause would otherwise be redundant, points at the second. Both are consistent with what is printed and the difference is four days of no food at all versus four days of eating at night. ⚠ This is a health matter and the ambiguity is not academic. A four-day liquid-only fast is a significant physiological undertaking, contraindicated in pregnancy, in diabetes, for anyone on medication with food requirements, and for anyone with a history of disordered eating. Nothing in this material discusses any of that. Re-check the plate before attempting either reading, and treat the fast as a medical decision rather than a procedural one.

Three Times a Day, Lying Down

The daily structure inside the fast is a meditation with two stones. Three times per day, the Apprentice should lay down and concentrate on the appropriate being to contact. Lying down rather than sitting — the only posture instruction of its kind here, and the school drills all specify sitting.

While lying, think on all of the aspects and attributes relating to that being. Then the mental act itself: silently think and be willing to establish the link with this entity. Be willing is the operative phrase. Not command, not petition — a stated readiness.

And the stones: place one of these gemstones upon the forehead and another upon the chest. Forehead and chest, the two sites the rest of the gemstone material uses separately — the forehead for the faeries, the chest for the archangels. Here both at once, for something further out than either.

Underneath all three sessions runs the standing requirement for the whole four days: concentrate all of your efforts in thinking about the mighty goal of establishing a connection with these beings. So the fast is not a background condition. The subject is meant to occupy the entire period.

Expect Nothing Obvious

The fourth instruction is the one that keeps a practitioner from abandoning the attempt, and it is admirably plain. Do not falter if an obvious sign of connection is not shown or experienced. The reason: these beings are not flamboyant and truly let their presence known through very subtle ways.

Set that beside the rest of the practice and it stands out. A crystal ball produces images. A censer produces shapes in smoke. A conjuration produces a being. The pentagram is traced and closed. Almost everything here has a stated marker.

This one has none, deliberately — and the instruction is to continue anyway. Which means a practitioner finishing four days of fasting has no way, from inside, to distinguish a successful contact from an unsuccessful one.

Tell Nobody, and Do Not Stop

Two closing instructions follow, and both are about what happens after. The first is secrecy. Should you be successful in communing with these beings, do not take it lightly. These are very powerful forces and you should respect them. Do not inform everyone you know what you have accomplished — keep it a secret. It is a very high spiritual experience for yourself only.

That is the fifth or sixth time this material makes concealment a condition rather than a preference, and it belongs to the same pattern as the incantations that fail if you say where the knowledge came from and the name never told even to a mentor.

Do Not Stop Once You Have Started

The second closing instruction is the sharper one, and it names a specific failure with a specific name attached. Once you have established the communion link, you should keep it up for as long as possible — and then the case it is guarding against, described with visible irritation: not like many curious do, that they keep up the communing exercise until the being reveals itself and then they forget about the experience.

Then the warning: should this occur, be mindful that you have stirred deep waters and awakened powerful entities. Read the position that leaves a person in. You fasted four days, you got no obvious sign, you were told to expect none — and then stopping afterwards is given consequences. So the practitioner who cannot tell whether contact was made is also the practitioner who cannot tell whether they are now under an obligation.

Stirred deep waters and awakened powerful entities is the whole of the stated consequence. Nothing says what an awakened entity does about being forgotten.

Where This Sits Among the Withheld Things

One line places the protocol in the larger structure and is easy to miss: for a complete list of these beings see the Appendix. So the beings are named somewhere, in a list, at the back — and the reader is sent there rather than being given them here. That matches how this material handles its largest content elsewhere: the ten Wizardly Trades get a table, the incantations get a chapter, and here the roster of Universal Consciousnesses is a list you go and look up.

It also means the protocol is only half usable as printed. The instruction is to concentrate on the appropriate being and to think on all of the aspects and attributes relating to that being — which requires knowing which being, and what its attributes are, before the four days begin.

Implementation Workflow — The Four Days

Everything specified, in order, with the cautions attached. Before you start, choose your being from the appendix list and learn its aspects and attributes. The meditations require them and there is no way to improvise.

Then the fast. Four days, on whichever reading of the instruction you settle on — and settle it as a health decision first. Water and juices during the day.

Three times each day, lie down. Place one gemstone on your forehead and another on your chest. Concentrate on the being and on everything you know about it, and silently hold your willingness for the link to be established.

Between sessions, stay on it. The instruction is to concentrate all your efforts, for the whole four days, on the goal of the connection. Expect no sign, and do not stop because none comes. Subtlety is the stated mode.

Afterwards, say nothing to anyone about what happened. And keep the link up — as long as possible. Establishing one and abandoning it is the failure this protocol names by name.

Evidence, Tensions, Open Questions

The four-day protocol, the definition of supreme beings and the closing warnings are asserted with no tradition named and nothing quoted. This is the Eldest Tradition warrant on the source stub. 🚩 SINGLE SOURCE.

⚠ The fasting instruction is ambiguous as printed and the two readings differ by whether any solid food is eaten at all. Both are set out above rather than resolved. Re-check the plate.

⚠ Extended fasting is a genuine medical matter. No health guidance, contraindication or exclusion appears anywhere in this material. The cautions above are added here and are not in the source.

🚩 Universal Consciousnesses are placed farther out than the gods here, and named elsewhere in the same material as fifty-five personified philosophical concepts existing outside any hierarchy of beings. The two descriptions are not obviously the same thing and are never reconciled. Unresolved: nothing states how long as long as possible is, what maintaining an established link consists of day to day, or what an awakened entity does when the practitioner stops.

Author Tensions & Convergences

Follow the definition and these beings are benign. They exist to help us in our path towards illumination, self-righteousness and absolute equilibrium — a purpose entirely oriented toward the practitioner's own straightening out, with nothing in it about power, favour or exchange. Follow the closing warning and they are dangerous to trifle with. Establish a link and abandon it, and you have stirred deep waters and awakened powerful entities — a sentence written to frighten, about the same beings.

Both are in the same protocol, four steps apart. And the practitioner is expected to hold them together: approach something whose whole purpose is your good, under a warning about what happens if you walk away from it.

Cross-Domain Handshakes

Anugraha Cannot Be Delegated — Both traditions describe contact with something far above the practitioner, and both are explicit that the practitioner's part is preparation rather than production. Neither claims the contact can be forced. The Śaiva account puts the decisive act entirely on the other side: grace descends or it does not, and no amount of technique obliges it. What a practitioner does is become the sort of person it can land on.

Here the same asymmetry is stated and then a schedule is attached to it, which neither corpus notices. Four days, three sessions daily, two stones, no expected sign — a specified cost for an unspecifiable outcome. Which produces a problem a grace doctrine does not have. When descent is acknowledged as unearnable, an absent sign means nothing has been lost; when four days of fasting have been spent, an absent sign is either subtlety or failure, and this protocol closes off the second reading by instructing the practitioner not to falter. The cost creates the pressure to conclude that something happened.

The Live Edge

Sharpest implication. The protocol removes both ends of the feedback loop. Do not falter if an obvious sign of connection is not shown — so you cannot tell whether it worked. And should this occur, be mindful that you have stirred deep waters — so stopping has consequences. A practitioner is left with an obligation whose existence they cannot verify.

Generative questions.

  • Four days of fasting buys no observable sign by design. What distinguishes this from four days of fasting?
  • The beings exist to help toward illumination and equilibrium, and abandoning them awakens powerful entities. Are those the same beings, described twice?
  • The link must be kept up as long as possible, and no maintenance practice is given. What does keeping one up consist of?
