Second Level Lights: Iluminos

What Do You Owe a Channel That Feeds You?

The first level of Lights turns a practitioner on and lets other people respond. The second level opens something — a channel to a named position on the Tree, a household kept permanently lit, a beam sent down onto wrongdoers, and a daily charm for telling truth from falsehood.

And three of the four come with obligations rather than limits. Write it down. Never say where it came from. Rest a day before asking again. Keep a flame burning that is never put out. Cast it every day.1

This is the only school in the spellbook where what a charm asks of you is roughly the size of what it gives.

Analytical Case Study — Accipeo Interlucis and Its Three Conditions

The channel to Tiphareth is the most heavily conditioned incantation in the spellbook, and the three conditions sit in a single sentence and a half. First, where it goes. The wizard establishes a celestial channel of communication with all the divine and celestial energies that reside in the Sphere of Tiphareth — described as the Sephira of the ultimate truth, communion with the Holy Angels, and the residence of the Lesser Divine Countenance, Microprosopus, which we can understand and emulate.

Which we can understand and emulate. That clause is the reason this position was chosen. Tiphareth sits in the middle of the Tree, and the face of the divine that lives there is the one described as being on a scale a person can work with.

Second, what comes through. The wizard creates a conduit that will endow her/him with great secrets, enlightened and arcane lore and ancient mysteries. Then the three conditions.

It's important that the Wizard puts all these information in written form. Write it down — the only incantation in the spellbook that requires a record.

And that he/she never reveals that the information received comes via this form of communication, otherwise the heavenly connection will be lost. Same rule as the invocation school's channel to the records, and here the consequence is stated: the connection goes.

The Wizard needs to rest at least a day before attempting the incantation again. A cooldown, in days, which nothing else in the spellbook has. Read the three together and they describe a working relationship rather than a spell. You take dictation. You keep the notebook. You never say who dictated. And you do not go back tomorrow.

⚠ Two of the three are about handling — record and silence — and only one is about power. Which means the risk this charm is guarding against is not exhaustion. It is disclosure.

Psalm 85:16. Celestial: Qarkalan, Throne of the First Heaven, who guards the mysteries of Heaven.

Emanaur Geburim — A Light That Is Never Put Out

The second charm is placed on a building and it has three preconditions before it will take. The location must be established under rightful ways. Owned or occupied properly — the same permission logic the room blessing in the benedictions carries, stated as a property of the place rather than of the caster.

A special altar must exist in this place and it should be dedicated to the Source Supreme. And there should be a light-form — candles are preferable, but electric illumination is also acceptable — that should never be extinguished.

Never extinguished. Which turns this from a casting into a standing commitment: somebody has to keep it burning, indefinitely, for the working to hold. ⚠ And the concession to electricity is worth noting. This is one of very few places in the volume where a modern substitute is explicitly permitted, and the preference is still stated.

What the charm then does: it places an incredible amount of Light in a household, temple or shrine, keeping malicious beings, iniquity, wrongdoers, and even mischievous and evil spirits at bay. It shields the place from robbers and thieves. And it acts on the people living there: it infuses the dwellers of the place with celestial grace, and they shall all enjoy good fortune and a good fate.

Then the condition on that, and it is a character requirement placed on the household rather than on the caster: however, these should be loving and observing of the right things in this world. And the largest claim in the school, attached to houses specifically: all children born in this place, if it is a house, will be marked with the sign of Heaven and they shall be great people in their future.

Psalm 127:1. Celestial: Daraphan, Host of the Second Heaven, who places celestial guards and magical wards around the blessed people of Earth.

Lampas Deum — The Fires of God

The third is the most aggressive incantation in the two Lights sets, and it is the only one aimed at people. It delivers the powerful Fires of God downwards to those who are doing wickedness and wrongful acts. What happens to them: this Fires of God will eradicate them and will free the Wizard from them.

Eradicate. Reported as printed, with no qualification of any kind and no condition on who judges the wickedness. The rest of the entry is cleansing rather than striking. The charm cleanses a place from lowly energies and frequencies which hamper and hinder the connection with those things which are celestial in origin. It manifests a beam of pure light and positive energy that frees a recipient from enslaving thoughts, temptations, and those things which corrupt the soul. It releases a powerful blow against all forms of dark magics and will dissipate them so that they are rendered useless.

And it ends outward: the charm creates a beacon of light that will distribute to other people and fill them up with divine grace and good will. So one incantation eradicates wrongdoers, clears a room, frees a person from compulsions, destroys dark magic, and then becomes a beacon that spreads goodwill to strangers. That range is unmatched in the six levels read in this build.

⚠ And the celestial attached to it is not a warrior. Merachel, Host of the Second Heaven, who rules over purification rituals. Purification, on a charm that begins by eradicating people — which is the entry's own framing of what it does.

Psalm 108:29.

Sophia Filoluminus — The Daily One

The fourth is cast every day and it is the closest thing in the spellbook to a standing faculty. It is to be employed daily, and it is reputed to procure wisdom and enlightenment to those who seek its magical splendor.

What it produces is a list of practical capacities. Greater decisional skills. The wizard will know whether a thing is true or not. They will be less vulnerable to deceptions and will negate illusions of the heart and mind.

Then the social half, which is the most usable: people trying to take advantage of the Wizard will be identified, and their plans will be revealed. Identified, and their plans revealed. Which is nearly the trap-detector from the divination school, arriving here as a side effect of a daily wisdom practice rather than as a targeted charm.

And the last effect is study rather than defence: the incantation allows the Wizard to deepen her/his understanding of the Magical Universe, to better comprehend the intricate mysteries of the cosmos, and to wholly apprehend the perplexing truths of the worlds of manifestation, formation, creation and potentiality. The four worlds, named in reverse order — from the densest up to the least defined. Which is the direction a person climbs rather than the direction creation runs.

Psalm 17:16. Celestial: Rachel, Prince of the Second Heaven, appointed to teach wisdom to those who want it. ⚠ Rachel is a common Hebrew personal name from the Genesis narratives and does not follow this system's own stated rule for celestial names, which is a verb or role joined to a divine marker.

Three Daily or Standing Practices

Set this level beside the rest of the spellbook and something distinctive appears. Three of the standing, repeat-forever instructions in the whole volume are Lights charms or their neighbours. Sophia Filoluminus — employed daily. Emanaur Geburim — a flame that is never extinguished. Ananath Therion, from the alterations school — amply suggested daily, on the practitioner's own sphere.

Everything else in the spellbook is cast when needed. These are cast as a way of living, and two of the three are in this school. Which fits what Lights are for. You do not light something up for an afternoon. The whole class of effect assumes the light stays on, and the maintenance is the practice.

What This Level Asks in Return

Read the obligations together and they are not arbitrary either. The channel to Tiphareth asks for a written record, silence about the method, and a day between attempts. The household charm asks for rightful occupancy, an altar, a flame never extinguished, and dwellers who are loving and observing of the right things. The wisdom charm asks for daily repetition.

Only Lampas Deum asks for nothing, and it is the one that eradicates people. ⚠ That inversion is worth flagging plainly. The three charms that give a practitioner knowledge, a protected home and good judgement all carry standing obligations. The one that turns fire on somebody has no condition, no test, and no stated way of being wrong about who deserves it.

Implementation Workflow — Working the Second Lights

For arcane knowledge: Accipeo Interlucis, aimed at Tiphareth. Write down everything that comes. Never tell anybody how you got it — the entry says the connection is lost if you do. And rest at least a day before casting it again.

For a home, temple or shrine: Emanaur Geburim, but only where the place is properly yours, an altar to the Source Supreme is already there, and somebody will keep a light burning that is never put out. Candles preferred; electric light is permitted. Against dark magic and lowly energies in a place: Lampas Deum, understanding what the entry says it also does to people.

And daily: Sophia Filoluminus. Decisional skill, telling true from false, resistance to deception, and the identification of people working against you — described as the product of the repetition rather than of any single casting.

Evidence, Tensions, Open Questions

The four incantations, their conditions, psalms and celestials are all in the Second Level Lights section of the spellbook. This is the Eldest Tradition warrant on the source stub. 🚩 SINGLE SOURCE.

Tiphareth is genuinely the sixth Sephira and is traditionally associated with the sun, harmony and the mediating position on the Tree. Microprosopus — the Lesser Countenance — is a real Qabalistic term and is correctly paired with Tiphareth here. ⚠ Lampas Deum states that the Fires of God will eradicate wrongdoers, with no condition, no test and no consequence for error. Reported as printed and endorsed in no part.

Rachel does not follow this system's stated naming rule for celestials. ⚠ The claim that all children born in a blessed house shall be great people in their future is unqualified. Unresolved: the household charm's benefits are conditioned on the dwellers being loving and observing of the right things, and nothing states what happens to the working when somebody in the house is not.

Author Tensions & Convergences

Follow the channel and this school is scrupulous about obligation. Write everything down. Never reveal the route, on pain of losing the connection. Wait a day. Keep a flame that is never extinguished. Cast the wisdom charm every day without fail.

Follow the third charm and the same school hands over the Fires of God with nothing attached. No record, no silence, no rest, no test — just wickedness identified by the caster and fire sent down on it. Both are in the same four. A set that guards a knowledge channel with three separate conditions gives the one charm that eradicates people no condition at all.

Cross-Domain Handshakes

Zero handshakes on this page. The material is four printed formulas with their conditions, texts and celestials, and the connection worth having — what disclosure is said to cost a channel — is carried inside this build by the page that treats that rule directly.

The Live Edge

Sharpest implication. The charm that opens a channel to Tiphareth is guarded three ways — put all these information in written form, never reveal that the information received comes via this form of communication, and rest at least a day — while the charm that sends the Fires of God down onto people the caster judges wicked carries no condition whatever.

Generative questions.

  • Write it down, and never say where it came from. What does a notebook of unattributable material become?
  • A flame that is never extinguished is the price of the household blessing. What happens the night it goes out?
  • Lampas Deum eradicates wrongdoers and its celestial rules over purification. Is the eradication meant as purification?
