Most blessings, as people usually imagine them, are general. Good wishes, pointed at somebody, hoping for the best. These five are not like that. One of them stops working when you get on a boat. One lasts indefinitely inside a church and for a month outside it. One works better on a room than on a person, and if you use it on a person they have to stay calm or it fails. One cannot be cast on yourself at all.1
Every entry in this set carries a limit, and the limits are what make them usable — they tell you where the blessing ends.
The first is aimed at a specific moment: after you have already failed once. It helps the recipient of the spell to get another chance, and a good one at best. And the population is named: it has been used for those who failed to do something the first time they tried.
What it supplies is not skill. It provides favor, support and celestial goodwill from the very potent energies of Heaven, so that the second time that particular task is attempted the recipient may obtain positive results. And the mechanism is a connection rather than a change: the blessing connects the vessel of the incantation with powerful angels and celestials which will take care to assist the person so that they succeed the second time.
Somebody is assigned. That is what the blessing does — it introduces the person to helpers who then look after the attempt. Psalm 50:3. Celestial: Shigel, Angel of the Third Heaven, who makes sure that a person has a better opportunity the second time he/she tries something.
The traveller's blessing is the most tightly bounded incantation in the set and the boundary is a mode of transport. It guides people safely, securely and without any hassles to their destination and protects them from the harms that may exist in the outside world. The harms are listed: accidents, falls, confrontations with wild animals, running up with thieves and savage people.
The recipient also gets a faculty rather than a shield: a sixth sense of what places to avoid and which are more preferable. Then the limit, stated flatly: this blessing only works for ground travel, not being able to confer the same protection while on the air or through the sea.
Land only. Which dates the charm and is also a real specification — a practitioner about to fly or sail is told, in the entry itself, that this is the wrong blessing and no alternative is offered. And a named effect on other people: the recipient is surrounded with The Traveler's Luck Aura, in which the people they meet on their travels will be moved to help them.
Psalm 88:16. Celestial: Qafechel, Power of the First Heaven, who guides the traveler away from harm and keeps the wayfarer protected.
The third is the general good-fortune blessing, and its limit is the strangest in the set because it is about the recipient's state rather than about range. It bestows energies related to good luck, favorable circumstances and goodwill on a person or an object, so that they live within the parameters of good luck and favor and are guided away and spared from dangerous destinies, ill-fated locations and misfortunes.
Two further effects are more specific. It liberates those obfuscated with harmful magics. And it destroys the energies which drive people to make foolish decisions, giving judgment and discernment to whoever it lands on.
Then the limit: the blessing is best used if cast over an area or object. In persons it can be cast, but they should keep themselves in constant peace and tranquility for the incantation to work. Constant peace and tranquility. So a person who is agitated is a poor container for this one — and the same charm that would help them most is the one their state prevents from working. Nothing addresses that.
Psalm 11:6. Celestial: Thesal, Prince of the Fourth Heaven, who favors those in need.
The consecration blessing is the only incantation in the ranges read in this build whose duration depends on where the object is kept. What it does: it releases a blessing over a place, artifact or magical weapon which contains in its mystical signature a powerful chain of divine names, celestial entities and superior luminous intelligences. Once summoned by the words, these powerful beings of Heaven will transfer their awesome heavenly might into the object or weapon.
Then the duration rule, in two halves. The object shall remain blessed for as long as it remains within the walls of a holy place — like a temple or church — irradiating everyone around it with celestial and divine power.
And: if removed from a holy place, the power of this incantation is so that the blessing will remain for at least a month. Indefinite inside, a month outside. The blessing does not decay on a clock; it decays on a location.
What the finished object does: presented against a dark creature it will rebuke them, and objects so blessed protect those who wield it against vampirism, psychic attacks and the dark influences of fallen angels. ⚠ Three named threats, and vampirism is one of them — the same folklore this curriculum answers elsewhere in its silver material.
Psalm 34:3. Celestial: Ralabel, Angel of the Second Heaven, with the task of blessing a space with the powerful emanations of the Divine.
The fifth is the most consequential blessing in either benediction set and it is gated twice before it can be used at all. It cannot be cast upon oneself. And it is only given to those which had proven themselves worthy of this blessing.
Two gates, and neither has a test attached. Somebody else must cast it on you, and somebody has judged you worthy. What it does: it imposes the magical affinity of the four elements upon a person, intoning them with the powers of Water, Earth, Air and Fire.
Then three separate benefits, each with its own condition. First, social: it provides a favorable aura when confronting elementals, so that friendships could be fostered with these beings. Which matters because the conjuration material is full of elementals who turn unruly, need re-casting daily, or demand courtesy at dismissal.
Second, conditional: it will provide secret knowledge from these elemental realms if the recipient contemplates and meditates daily upon these concepts. Daily contemplation, or the knowledge does not come. The blessing opens a channel; the practice is what draws through it. Third, and this is the part worth the whole entry — four physical effects, one per element, each tied to being near that element.
Heal wounds faster in water. Recover from sickness with soil. Gain more intelligence near winds. Be more dynamic near fires.
Read those as a set and they are a portable set of conditions. A person carrying this blessing does not get four powers; they get four places that do something for them. Go to water when you are cut. Get into soil when you are ill. Stand in the wind when you need to think. Sit by a fire when you need to move.
⚠ The healing claims here are stated as printed and are not endorsed. A wound is treated by a doctor, not by proximity to water. That is the shape of the blessing: it does not add anything to the person, it changes what the world's four elements do for them when they are near one.
Psalm 121:8. Celestial: Rasigel, Cherub of the Second Heaven, whose main task is to impose the magical power of the blessed elements, creating an abundant torrent of elemental energies all about.
Set the five limits side by side and they are not the same kind of thing, which is the useful finding. Mode of transport — ground only, for the traveller. Location — inside a holy place for indefinite duration, outside for a month. Recipient's state — constant peace and tranquility, or it does not take. Who casts it — never yourself, for the elemental blessing. Ongoing practice — daily contemplation, or the elemental knowledge does not arrive.
So a blessing here can be bounded by where you go, where the object sits, how calm you are, who says the words, and what you keep doing afterwards. Five different kinds of edge, in five consecutive entries. The celestials run Third, First, Fourth, Second, Second Heaven, and every office matches its charm closely — second opportunities, guiding travellers, favouring those in need, blessing a space, and imposing elemental power.
After a failure, cast Iterum Secundus before the second attempt. It assigns helpers to that attempt rather than improving the person. Before a journey by road, cast Secundus Exiro — and know that it does not cover flying or sailing. Expect the sixth sense about which places to avoid, and expect strangers to be more willing to help.
For general good fortune, cast Secundus Gratam on a place or an object by preference. If you cast it on a person, they have to stay calm for it to work. To consecrate a weapon or artifact, cast Deux Consecratur — and then decide where it lives. Kept in a temple or church it stays blessed indefinitely; taken out, it holds for at least a month.
And the elemental blessing is not yours to give yourself. Elemens Magea Impositur must be cast by somebody else, on somebody judged worthy. Afterwards, contemplate the four elements daily if you want the knowledge, and use the four sites for what each does: water for wounds, soil for sickness, wind for thinking, fire for momentum.
The five incantations, their effects, limits, psalms and celestials are all in the Second Level Benedictions section of the spellbook. This is the Eldest Tradition warrant on the source stub. 🚩 SINGLE SOURCE.
⚠ Health material on this page is reported, not endorsed. Healing wounds faster in water and recovering from sickness with soil are printed claims; neither is a treatment, and soil contact on an open wound is a genuine infection risk. ⚠ Elemens Magea Impositur is given only to those who have proven themselves worthy, and no test, criterion or judge is named — in a curriculum with no order and no lineage.
⚠ Secundus Gratam requires the recipient to hold constant peace and tranquility, which is the one condition in the set that the people most needing the blessing would find hardest to meet. Unresolved: Deux Consecratur holds indefinitely inside a holy place and at least a month outside one. Nothing states what happens at the end of that month, or whether returning the object indoors restores it.
Follow the traveller's blessing and this school is precise about its own edges. Ground travel only, stated outright, with air and sea excluded by name and no alternative offered. Follow the elemental blessing and the edges are entirely unspecified where it matters most. Only the worthy receive it, and worthiness has no test. It must come from somebody else, and nobody says who is qualified to give it.
Both are in the same five. The set that tells you a blessing stops at the shoreline will not tell you who is allowed to hand out its most consequential one.
Zero handshakes on this page. The material is five printed formulas with their effects, limits, texts and celestials, and the connections worth having — consecration and its durations, and what an elemental affinity buys in the conjuration material — sit inside this build already on the pages that treat each directly.
Sharpest implication. The elemental blessing does not give a person four powers. It gives them four places. Heal wounds faster in water, recover from sickness with soil, gain more intelligence near winds, be more dynamic near fires — the world does something different for you afterwards, depending on which of the four you are standing next to.
Generative questions.
