There is a person who will not answer your messages, or a situation stuck in disagreement, or a conversation that keeps failing. This is the operation for that, and it is two objects facing each other on a shelf. The arrangement has a name. Place two objects one in front of the other and this is known as a Radial Tension, used for situations in which there are oppositions, resistances, disapprovals, poor communication, conflicts, and even situations in which a person or concept is not making contact with you.1
Two objects, because the operation runs on the number two — and to see why that is the right number, you have to know where two comes from here.
The derivation is the shortest one in the numbers material. When the number One reflects upon itself, knowing it is completely and absolutely infinite, it automatically doubles, and two is born in the form of two lines.2 Then the pairing that matters. While the number One represents space, the number Two represents Time. And when the two lines are joined at their centres, they make a cross — the emblem of Tau, the last of the Hebrew letters, described as akin to the Greek Omega.
So the second number is time, and its letter is the last one. Both point the same way: toward the end of things.
The consequence is stated plainly, and it is the most striking sentence in this section.
In the dimension of space alone, things are immortal, unchanging and immutable. But when they are introduced into the dimension of time they become changing, perishable and ephemeral.
Nothing kills anything here. Duration does. A thing put into time acquires the property of ending, and that is what makes two the number of Saturn — ruler of time, death, wisdom, conclusions, and mastery over our weaknesses by testing us. And two is also creative, which sounds like a contradiction until you read what kind of creation is meant. Two bestows a certain quality of creation upon the objects it infuses, giving things a divine spark which compels them to move and interact with the world, slowly eroding and wearing away until they finally perish. The spark and the erosion are the same gift. To be set moving is to begin running down.
Which is why two is the number for forces in equilibrium, dual energies, limits and opportunity — and why the operations it serves are all about things ending: equilibrating a situation, ending a problem with someone, facing odds, finishing stressing situations, and receiving ancestral wisdom. Especially, it adds, if the objects used are related to Saturn.
Now the procedure, which has three parts and one demanding number. First, the arrangement: two similar objects, placed one in front of the other, facing.
Second, the placement, and this is where the operation actually lives. Radial tensions should be placed in an Altar or somewhere where the Wizard sees the objects regularly. The reason is given: this will amplify the activity of the Radial Tension exponentially, as the Wizard concentrates upon the desired effect every single time it sees the device. Third, the incantation. Once the objects are in place, cast whichever incantation suits the situation. And then the schedule: that incantation should be repeated twice every two hours until the operation comes to manifest.
Read the arithmetic on that. Twice every two hours, through a waking day, is roughly twenty-four repetitions — and the stopping condition is not a count or a date. It is until the operation comes to manifest, which means you keep going for as long as it takes, at that rate, with no end stated.
Two objects. Two repetitions. Two-hour intervals. The whole procedure is built out of its own number, which is consistent with how everything else here works: a grid of five broadcasts five, and an operation of two is performed in twos.
The placement rule deserves separating out, because it is doing more work than it looks. Most objects in this practice are put away. The crystal ball goes under heavy linen the moment you finish. A consecrated weapon is stored. A grid sits on the altar, but nothing is said about looking at it.
The radial tension is the opposite. It has to be somewhere the Wizard sees the objects regularly, and the amplification is explicitly tied to the seeing: every time you notice it, you concentrate on the desired effect, and that concentration is what raises the operation's power. So the object is not merely charged and left. It is a standing appointment with your own attention, and the effect scales with how often the appointment is kept.
Which gives the practitioner a small design problem the material does not raise. Put it somewhere too prominent and you will stop seeing it within a week. Put it somewhere too discreet and you will not see it at all.
The second use of two is a daily drill, and it is the shortest complete exercise in the whole curriculum. Place a candle in front of you and sit comfortably beside it. The candle is inscribed with two names: BERACHOTH CHOCHMAH, which is given as the divine name of Creative Wisdom, Intelligence and the ability to create worlds of knowledge.3
Then the visualisation, which is a pairing rather than a picture. See the candle and its flame as the divine aspects of wisdom, and see yourself as the divine vessel of this wisdom. Two things, facing — the same shape as the radial tension, with a person in one of the two positions. Then breathe. With simple breaths, draw in this energy and concepts, seeing in the mind's eye how this breath of wisdom fills the mind and intellect.
At least five minutes daily. That is the whole instruction, and it is the one exercise here aimed at acquiring intelligence rather than at producing an effect in the world.
A footnote carries the reasoning behind the letter, and it is worth reading because it shows the method the whole system uses.
Tau represents a sign or an emblem and is also represented by a cross. Its numerical value is 400. Then, citing the commentaries of Rabbi Mar Ben Ariah in the Bahir, it is called the result of a magical formula composed between Chet and two Yods, giving the value 28 — which is exactly two spaces from 26, the number of IHVH, the divine and secret name.4
Follow the moves. A letter is a value. Values are compared by distance. A distance of two, in a passage about the number two, is offered as the confirmation. Nothing is proved here in any ordinary sense; what is demonstrated is the technique — if the number is known, the name is known, and relationships between names are relationships between numbers.
The whole procedure, with the numbers the source gives. Name the problem first, and check it is the right kind. Follow the number and two is about endings. Time, Saturn, death, conclusions, the last letter, and things that erode and perish once set moving. On that account a radial tension is a device for finishing something — a conflict closed, a problem ended.
Follow the use-case list and two is about opening. It is deployed where a person is not making contact, where communication is poor, where something has failed to begin. That is a device for starting something.
Both are in the same passage. And they point opposite ways for the practitioner staring at two stones on a shelf, because closing a quarrel and restoring a conversation are not the same request, and the same arrangement is prescribed for both.
Advanced Behavioral Anchoring — Both traditions build a deliberate loop between a stimulus placed in the environment and a state that recurs whenever it is encountered, and both treat repetition as the whole mechanism rather than as reinforcement of something else.
